Introduction

EasyPaisa is a popular digital payment app that revolutionizes the way people in Pakistan manage their financial transactions. Developed by Telenor Group, one of the leading telecommunications companies in the country, EasyPaisa offers a convenient and secure platform for users to make payments, send money, and access a range of financial services right from their mobile devices.

Problem Statement

The Easypaisa app, despite its extensive range of financial services, is currently facing significant usability challenges that hinder its effectiveness and user satisfaction. Key issues identified include:

  1.  Cluttered User Interface: The current design of the app is overly cluttered, leading to user confusion and difficulty in navigation. This is particularly problematic for new users who struggle to find and utilize the app’s features effectively.
  2. Poor Visibility of IBAN Number: Users have reported difficulty in locating their IBAN number within the app. This lack of visibility not only frustrates users but also impedes their ability to perform essential banking tasks seamlessly.
  3. Confusing Transaction Process: The process for conducting transactions is not intuitive. The presence of a search icon misleads users into thinking they can only select existing contacts from their mobile, causing confusion about how to add new contacts for transactions.

These issues contribute to a suboptimal user experience, potentially leading to user abandonment and decreased engagement. The objective of this redesign is to simplify the user interface, improve the visibility of critical information like the IBAN number, and streamline the transaction process to enhance overall user satisfaction and retention.

Problem Solution

To resolve the identified issues with the Easypaisa app, the following solutions have been implemented:

1. Simplifying the User Interface:

    • Declutter the UI: Redesigned the app’s layout to reduce clutter and improve visual hierarchy. This includes grouping related features together, using whitespace strategically, and simplifying the overall design to make navigation more intuitive.
    • Consistent Design Language: Adopted a consistent design language, including uniform color schemes, typography, and iconography, to enhance readability and provide a cohesive user experience.

2. Enhancing IBAN Visibility:

    • Prominent Placement: Placed the IBAN number prominently on the main dashboard, ensuring it is easily visible to users upon logging in.
    • Dedicated Section: Created a dedicated “Account Information” section where users can quickly access essential account details, including the IBAN number, without navigating through multiple screens.
    • Quick Access Features: Added features such as “Copy IBAN” buttons to facilitate easy sharing and use of the IBAN number.

3. Streamlining the Transaction Process:

    • Clear Transaction Options: Redesigned the transaction interface to clearly differentiate between selecting existing contacts and adding new ones. Introduced distinct buttons for “Select Existing Contact” and “Add New Contact” to eliminate confusion.
    • Enhanced Search Functionality: Improved the search functionality to allow users to easily find and select contacts from their address book or manually enter new contact details.
